About JIHE
JIHE (Japan International Hemp Expo) is an international exhibition and conference that brings together every part of the hemp industry — from CBD products and hemp agriculture to construction materials, food, fashion, and biotechnology.
JIHE was created by combining two long-running Japanese events — the CBD Journey exhibition and the CannaCon conference — into a single framework with a broader industrial scope and an international outlook. In 2026 the stage is House of OMOTESANDO, a whole-building venue in Omotesando, Tokyo. From the basement exhibition hall to the 1F business lounge, the 2F conference, and the rooftop networking space, each floor offers a different experience.
Since the revised Cannabis Cultivation Act came into force in December 2024, Japan's hemp and CBD market has been moving under its own regulatory framework, with large companies entering the field. JIHE is held to build on that momentum and to open the industry up internationally.

From medical and scientific topics to regulation and policy, industry and sustainability, and global markets — experts from Japan and abroad take the stage. Both Japanese- and English-language sessions are held, and every session is made accessible through AI interpretation (subtitles).

Hemp cultivation under Japan's new regulatory framework began in 2025, but entering the industry still involves many hurdles. What stands in the way, and what is needed, for more growers to join and for the industry to develop? Will cannabis-derived medicines ever be available in Japan?
Overseas, medicines made with cannabis-derived ingredients, such as Epidiolex for epilepsy and Sativex for multiple sclerosis, are already used in clinical practice. In Japan, however, challenges remain on the road to practical use, from legal regulation to the development and approval systems. This session shares the status of bringing Epidiolex to Japan, the current state of specified clinical research and AMED projects, and moves to introduce products developed overseas, and discusses what is needed to deliver cannabis-derived medicines to patients in Japan.

Medical cannabis and cancer care
In cancer care, how we address pain, nausea, anxiety and delirium — and how we support the quality of life of patients and their families — matters as much as the treatment itself. Cannabinoids have been applied and studied in palliative and supportive care overseas, and a change in the law has now opened the way for cannabis-derived medicines in Japan. This session brings together long experience in palliative care and cannabinoid therapy in the United States and the perspective of psycho-oncology in Japan, where the focus is on delirium, cognitive function and psychological symptoms in cancer patients, to discuss where medical cannabis and cancer care stand today and what can be considered in Japanese clinical practice.

CBN today and the inconvenient truth
CBN has been regulated as a designated substance since June 2026. Yet a path remains for people with a recognised therapeutic need to keep using it as a 'legitimate use'. Through the design of the system and how eligibility is assessed in practice, the challenges faced by doctors who issue medical certificates, and the voices of patients themselves, this session examines from several angles where CBN regulation stands today and the 'inconvenient truths' that have surfaced in its shadow.

Comprehensive regulation of hemp-derived CBD products has stalled in many countries. In the United States, the THC content of hemp-derived CBD products will be restricted from December, and many products now on the market are expected to become unsellable. This session examines the pros and cons of this THC regulation and its impact on the CBD market, particularly for people who use CBD for medical purposes.

The greatest value of JIHE lies in the connections people make.
On the evening of BUSINESS DAY (Friday 13 November) we hold a networking party across the bar counter in the 2F White Hall and the rooftop terrace. Exhibitors, sponsors, partners, and speakers are all welcome, and visitors may join as well. It is a good place to exchange information about the CBD and hemp industry.

When and where is JIHE 2026 held?
JIHE 2026 will be held on November 13-14, 2026 at House of OMOTESANDO (5-34-8 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0001, Japan).
Is there an admission fee?
General admission is free with pre-registration. Some programs, such as the networking party, may require additional fees.
How can I become an exhibitor?
You can apply to exhibit through the contact form on our official website. We offer various booth and sponsorship packages to suit your needs.
How can I apply to speak at the conference?
If you'd like to speak at CannaCon, please submit your application through our contact form and select 'Speaker.' We welcome presentations from international experts in the hemp and cannabis industry.
What kind of programs does JIHE offer?
JIHE features exhibitions (CBD Journey & HEMP Journey), conferences (CannaCon), networking events, and hands-on workshops — offering a comprehensive hemp industry experience.
Can international visitors attend?
Yes, JIHE is an international expo. We welcome visitors, exhibitors, and speakers from around the world. Sessions by international speakers cross the language barrier with AI interpretation.
Does JIHE have a track record of past events?
Yes, JIHE evolved from the integration of CBD Journey and CannaCon events. You can view past attendance figures and exhibitor details on our Past Event Reports page.
How do I request a visa invitation letter, and is there a fee?
Invitation letters were previously issued free of charge. As request volumes have increased, so has the administrative work involved in identity checks, document review, preparation and correspondence. We are therefore introducing an administration fee of USD 30 per applicant for general attendees. The fee applies equally regardless of nationality or country of residence. Confirmed exhibitors, sponsors and speakers are exempt. Event admission remains free with advance registration. The fee is USD 30 per applicant. Payment instructions are provided individually before preparation begins; your agreement and full payment are required unless exempt. After correct issuance, visa refusal, delay or a change of travel plans alone does not qualify for a refund. The updated policy also applies to earlier requests that we have not yet responded to or started processing. If we have already agreed to provide your letter free of charge or begun handling your request under the previous terms, we will honor those terms. General Sponsorship is also available to help build your industry presence through company logo and website exposure; confirmed sponsors are exempt from the letter administration fee. Neither payment nor sponsorship guarantees a letter, visa or entry. Please read the visitor guide for the application process, full refund terms and sponsorship enquiries.
